Privacy Policy

1. Information handled on your device

• Display and device information: the app reads information such as device manufacturer and model, Android version, screen resolution, density, refresh rate, and supported display capabilities to show your device's specifications.
• Test inputs: touch positions, tapped cells, drag movements, and scribble strokes are processed in memory to run the tests. The app does not save a test history or upload your drawings, raw touch coordinates, or test results.
• Preferences: your theme choice and whether a test hint has been shown are stored locally. Android backup or device transfer may include these settings, depending on your device and backup configuration.

The local display information feature does not itself upload a device report. Some device characteristics are also collected separately by the services described below.

2. Information collected through Google services

Usage analytics

Google Analytics for Firebase collects app interactions, including the names of screens you open, app launches, session activity, and engagement information. It also collects an app-instance identifier and technical information such as app version, device model, operating system, and language. Google processes IP addresses and can derive approximate location, such as country or city; the app does not request GPS or precise location access. We use these analytics to understand which features are used and improve the app.

Crash reports and diagnostics

Firebase Crashlytics collects crash traces, timestamps, app state, app and operating system versions, and device characteristics such as model, memory, and storage. Its supporting services use installation and session identifiers to measure stability. Analytics events may appear as activity breadcrumbs preceding a crash. We use this information to diagnose errors and improve reliability.

Analytics and crash reporting are enabled in the distributed app. There is currently no in-app switch to turn them off. We do not attach your name or email address to these reports. Installation identifiers are not your name, but can distinguish an app installation.

Google Play updates

The app uses Google Play's in-app update service to check for and install available updates. Google Play processes the information needed to provide that service under Google's privacy policy.

3. Permissions and advertising

The app uses internet access for analytics, crash reporting, and loading this privacy policy. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, personal files, or precise location. It does not record your screen or read content from other apps.

Display Checker does not show advertisements. Advertising ID collection is disabled in the app, and advertising ID and AdServices attribution permissions are removed. We do not sell your personal information or use app data to serve personalized advertisements.

4. How information is shared

Google receives the analytics and diagnostic information described above to provide the integrated services. If you email us, your email provider and ours process that correspondence. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights or the security of the service. We do not publish individual analytics or crash reports.

The Share app action sends the app's public Play Store link and a recommendation message to an app you choose. It does not attach test data. That app handles the shared message under its own privacy policy.

5. Retention and deletion

• Local data: preferences remain until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Test inputs are held only in memory while the relevant test state exists. Backed-up settings may be restored when reinstalling; manage backups through your device or backup provider's settings.
• Crash reports: Google states that Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems.
• Analytics: user-level and event-level data are retained according to the Google Analytics property's retention settings and then automatically expire. New activity may renew retention of a user identifier, and aggregated reports may remain longer. See Google's retention documentation. Contact us for information about the current retention setting.
• Support correspondence: if you contact us, we use your email address and message to respond. We retain correspondence only as needed to resolve your request, handle related follow-up, or meet legal obligations.

To request access to or deletion of information we hold about you, email [email protected] with the subject “Display Checker privacy request”. We will assess your request and explain what we can identify and delete. Because the app has no accounts and we do not link your email to installation identifiers, we may be unable to identify your particular analytics or crash records from an email address alone. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive data.

Clearing app storage or uninstalling does not itself delete information already sent to Google. Uninstalling stops future collection by that installed copy of the app; reinstalling and using the app can start collection again. There is no Display Checker account to delete.

6. Security and international processing

Firebase encrypts data in transit using HTTPS. Local preferences are stored in the app's private storage, subject to Android's security and backup controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Google may process information on servers outside your country, as explained in its privacy and security documentation.

7. Children’s privacy

Display Checker is a general-purpose utility and is not specifically directed at children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address the request, including deletion where we can identify the information.

8. This webpage and external links

Opening this policy connects to our website. The hosting provider receives standard request information, such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver the page and operate the service. This policy page includes no analytics scripts or advertising cookies. Links to external websites are subject to those websites' privacy practices.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. Updates will appear at this URL with a revised date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent within the app before introducing new data practices.
